CONTRAINDICATIONS TO LENS WEAR

OCULAR REASONS

One eyed patients

Great caution should be used in fitting 
patients with only one functional eye.  
As I tell these patients, “You no longer 
have a spare eye, if something happens 
to the good eye you will be functionally 
blind”.  It is best to not fit these 
patients, however, we often do when 
they have high ametropias or for other 
reasons.  

Do not fit them with extended wear.  
Use daily wear only.  Patient education 
and compliance is critical.

They must wear safety spectacles even with the contact lenses for protection.
